Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. is recalling a frozen GreenWise blueberry item sold at Publix due to the risk of E. coli.
The Food and Drug Administration said Monday 12 illnesses with the outbreak strain have been reported, including four hospitalizations, based on information collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Florida officials.
Seven of the nine people interviewed reported eating frozen blueberries, including five who specified GreenWise-brand organic frozen blueberries from Publix, the FDA said.
Chile-based Frutas y Hortalizas said the recalled 10-ounce bag has lot number 60401 and a best by date of Feb. 9, 2028.
The recalled product was shipped to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
