Iran warned the United States not to breach an Iran-US memorandum of understanding, saying any violation would be met with a response, according to Jiemian News. On July 3, Iran’s acting defense minister Ibn Reza told Turkey’s defense minister Yasar Guler in a phone call that Iran accepted the ceasefire arrangement under the memorandum to help restore regional stability and at the request of friendly neighboring countries. He said Iran has no trust in the US due to what he described as a history of broken commitments, and that Iran’s armed forces remain on high alert. Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a July 3 statement that any miscalculation by “the enemy” would trigger a more decisive and destructive response than before.
