SK Hynix NASDAQ:SKHY, the South Korean memory chipmaker that supplies HBM and AI server DRAM to customers including Nvidia NASDAQ:NVDA, fell 9.6% in Seoul after reporting second-quarter revenue of 79.32 trillion won ($54.55 billion) and operating profit of 60.54 trillion won. Both missed analysts' estimates of 84 trillion and 64 trillion won. Revenue rose 257% from a year earlier and operating profit 557%, for an operating margin of 76%. Net profit reached 93.92 trillion won. Prices climbed quarter over quarter in both DRAM and NAND.
Cash reached 88 trillion won, while debt fell to 18.6 trillion. First-half revenue passed 100 trillion won for the first time. SK Hynix began mass shipments of HBM4 during the quarter and completed HBM4E sample shipments, with long-term agreements now covering around 10 key customers. The company guided full-year capex to the high 40 trillion won range while saying it will prioritize growth investment and a sound financial structure.
