The outcome of Castlelake's new takeover offer for easyJet remains uncertain, AJ Bell's Dan Coatsworth says in a research note. Founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou and his family--easyJet's largest shareholders--are likely to play a decisive role, Coatsworth says. Opposition from them or other major investors could still derail the transaction, he adds. While easyJet's board appears supportive of the newest takeover offer, shares continue to trade below the proposed 6.90 pounds offer price, suggesting investors remain unconvinced the deal will be completed or that the current offer fully reflects the airline's value, the analyst adds. Shares trade 9.9% higher at 6.134 pounds. (nina.kienle@wsj.com)
