Nvidia NASDAQ:NVDA, a leading developer of artificial intelligence chips, formed a coalition with several technology and cybersecurity companies to develop and share tools for protecting AI systems. The initiative follows an incident involving Hugging Face that brought greater attention to the risks surrounding autonomous AI agents.
The Open Secure AI Alliance includes Adobe NASDAQ:ADBE, a creative-software company, CrowdStrike NASDAQ:CRWD, a cybersecurity provider, Hugging Face, an open-source AI platform, and Dell Technologies NYSE:DELL, a computer manufacturer. Its launch also follows a public letter supporting open-weight AI models, with Nvidia arguing that sweeping restrictions on open systems could reduce defensive capabilities and increase reliance on a small number of closed providers.
Nvidia plans to contribute open models, model weights, data and research related to controlling AI agents. The company said the proposed framework could help organizations test, track, review and regulate agent behavior, placing AI security and system oversight at the center of the alliance's work.
