Advanced Micro Devices NASDAQ:AMD rose 1.5% in premarket trading Friday after several Wall Street analysts raised their price targets following the chipmaker's Advancing AI event, where the company outlined broader ambitions for its artificial intelligence portfolio.
AMD NASDAQ:AMD drew positive commentary from multiple brokerages, with analysts pointing to the launch of its Helios AI rack-scale platform, expanded Instinct GPU lineup, Venice CPUs and networking products as strengthening its position in the AI infrastructure market. Roth increased its price target to $650 from $500 while maintaining a Buy rating.
AMD also lifted its long-term market opportunity estimates, projecting the AI accelerator market could reach about $1.4 trillion by 2030, while the server CPU market may exceed $220 billion. GF Securities said the updated outlook supports expectations that AI demand remains resilient despite recent market volatility.
AMD also received support from Wedbush, which cited Anthropic's planned deployment of up to two gigawatts of MI450 systems as evidence of sustained enterprise demand.
Meanwhile, Baird raised its price target to $1,250 from $625, saying the event reinforced confidence in the company's AI GPU and CPU growth prospects. Analysts also said AMD's upcoming MI500 platform and Venice processors could further strengthen its competitive position against Nvidia NASDAQ:NVDA, while Intel's NASDAQ:INTC stronger-than-expected outlook also provided a favorable backdrop for semiconductor sentiment.
