Amazon NASDAQ:AMZN founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos filed notice with the SEC of a plan to sell 15 million shares, valued at about $4.07 billion. Amazon shares dropped 2.08% in premarket.
Amazon's market capitalization passed $3 trillion for the first time on Monday, with the stock hitting a 52-week high of $287.20 four days after second-quarter results. The stock is up more than 20% over the past week.
Amazon reported second-quarter net sales up 20% to $200.6 billion on July 30, with AWS growing 37% to $42.2 billion, its fastest in 18 quarters, and segment operating income up 64% to $16.6 billion. Advertising rose 26% to $19.8 billion. Capital expenditure reached $54.2 billion against $32.1 billion a year earlier, and CEO Andy Jassy told analysts full-year capex would rise to $220 billion from $200 billion on higher memory costs.
