Bank of America has included memory chipmaker Micron Technology (MU, Financials) which serves data center, mobile and industrial industries to its U.S. 1 List, along with Keurig Dr Pepper.
Micron shares jumped 6.5% in premarket trading after the announcement. Dr Pepper Keurig gained a bit.
The U.S. 1 List is comprised of equities that Bank of America experts see as the best investment opportunities in the U.S. market.
Microns added capacity comes as demand for advanced memory continues to be closely tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centers and high-performance computing. The company has benefited from pricing power and higher demand for high-bandwidth memory used in AI systems.
Keurig Dr Pepper has a different profile with exposure to coffee, soft drinks and other consumer beverages. Including it means Bank of America also sees opportunity in more defensive parts of the economy.
The contrasting additives suggest a wide-ranging plan, fusing semiconductor expansion with consumer steadiness. Now investors will be looking for more detail from analysts as to why each was picked and whether the early share-price pop will last.
