About 17,000 Central Hudson Gas & Electric customers were without power as of late Monday, compared with the utility's total customers of more than 315,000.
As of 9 a.m., power had been restored to more than 28,000 customers after Saturday's storms.
The Poughkeepsie, N.Y., company is a unit of Fortis Inc.
Jersey Central Power & Light, a unit of FirstEnergy, said Monday afternoon that it had restored power to over 300,000 customers. About 40,000 customers are without service.
Con Edison said Monday that it was is asking some customers in southeastern Queens to conserve energy while crews repair equipment. Late Sunday, it said power was restored for more than 166,800 of the approximately 173,700 customers whose service was impacted by extreme weather.
NJ Transit, which restored service on multiple rail lines that were closed after the storms, said service remained suspended through the end of Monday on the Gladstone Branch from New Providence to Gladstone.
