The airline said Monday that it carried 2.4 million passengers in the month, up 1.2% on year and compared with 2.25 million passengers in May.

Norwegian's capacity in June rose 7.9% on year, while traffic rose 2.1%.

The group's total passengers--including its Wideroe regional airline--numbered 2.8 million.

"We are preparing for the busiest month of the year and are seeing overall satisfactory demand for beach and city vacations from the Nordic countries," Chief Executive Geir Karlsen said.

"As in recent summer seasons, we are also expecting increasing demand from other European countries for 'coolcations' to Nordic destinations," Karlsen added.
