For Vault shareholders, the takeover bid from Genesis--which trumps a merger agreed with Regis Resources in May--is "the true end game," says MA Moelis Australia. Their patience could be "rewarded with eventual ownership of [circa] 40% of a company which will now own virtually all of a globally significant gold region," MA says in a client note. For Genesis, buying Vault would accelerate an ambition to exceed annual gold output of 500,000 oz from FY29-30, it says. Looking further ahead, the business that potentially emerges from this transaction (assuming it closes) could consider itself globally important and potentially become a target for even bigger rivals, MA says. Vault shares are up 10% at 5.02 Australian dollars, while Genesis shares are down 5.3% at A$5.96. (rhiannon.hoyle@wsj.com; @RhiannonHoyle)
