Australian stock futures are pointing to an opening rise ahead of the week's final trading session. ASX futures are up by about 0.6% before Friday's open, suggesting that the S&P/ASX 200 could avoid a second straight weekly decline. The benchmark index is down by almost 0.5% so far this week after finishing Thursday flat. Ahead of the open, Suncorp said it completed its fiscal 2027 reinsurance program and now expects to reduce the amount of excess capital it holds. U.S. stocks were mixed after data showed the economy added fewer jobs in June than economists had expected. The DJIA rose 1.1%, the S&P 500 was flat, and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.8%.
