Specialist live biotherapeutics health company Biome Australia ASX:BIO has reported a record sales revenue of $23.9 million for the 2026 financial year, representing a 30% jump on the previous year.

Delivered in a difficult environment for the broader consumer health sector, the result was led by the company’s existing business, with same-store sell-through well ahead of the category.

Biome added $5.5m of new sales revenue during the year, equating to more than the company’s total revenue of $4.1m for the 2022 financial year.

June half-year sales revenue of $11.5m was the second-largest on record, representing an increase of 20% on the previous corresponding period.

In the six years since 2020, Biome has compounded its sales revenue at about 60% per annum from 2021 and at 74% from 2020.

Underlying Market Demand

Underlying demand for Biome’s Activated Probiotics brand outpaced reported revenue for the period with same-store sales in Australia rising 39% across all channels—more than six times the category growth of around 6%.

Demand at the consumer end was just as strong, with June estimated to be the first month in which sell-through passed 100,000 units.

The company is expecting another strong start to 2027, with pharmacy wholesalers having run stock levels and purchase orders right down at the close of the year.

Activated Probiotics is a top-three probiotic brand in the Australian community pharmacy sector and the highest-growth brand in the category, with Biome Daily the leading probiotic product by units sold.

Strong International Sales

Biome’s international sales revenue for the year rose 26% to $1.8m through established market positions built on a capital-light basis in Canada, Ireland, the UK, and New Zealand.

In Canada, the company added North American practitioner distributor Fullscript to its books alongside launch partner Ecotrend Ecologics and territory managers in three provinces.

Partners in other regions include Uniphar’s pharmacy network (in Ireland), health food and pharmacy channels (UK), and ProPharma group (New Zealand).

With distribution in place and onshore manufacturing enabling the smaller batch runs required by these markets, Biome expects materially stronger international growth in the new financial year.

Australian Manufacturing Agreement

Biome signed a binding agreement with Specialty Probiotics Australia in June to manufacture its Activated Probiotics range in Australia, representing the first phase of its ‘Vision 27’ plan to take greater control of its supply chain.

The agreement requires no upfront capital, with release of the first commercial batch targeted for September.

Securing the agreement sets Biome up operationally and financially for the 2027 financial year, bringing production onshore and adding an Australian-made advantage in export markets.

Biome expects the deal to free up working capital through lower inventory, faster stock turn, and the removal of extended timeframes for international sea freight, intending to reinvest the released cash into the business.
