Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were steady to higher in the U.S. Midwest on Thursday as locations rolled basis bids forward ahead of the expiration of the Chicago Board of Trade July contracts.
Chicago corn, wheat and soybean futures rose for a third straight session on Thursday, underpinned by U.S. planting and stocks estimates as well as hopes of renewed Chinese demand.
Some farmers have taken advantage of the price rise to sell ahead of the long holiday weekend.
Many locations rolled their basis bids to the Chicago Board of Trade August soybean contract (SQ26) or September corn contract (CU26).
Chicago Board of Trade most-active corn futures CBOT:ZC1! were last up 1-1/4 cents to $4.43-1/2 a bushel and CBOT most-active soybean futures CBOT:ZS1! were last 1/4 cent higher to $11.49-1/4 per bushel.
