Colombia's urban jobless rate was 8.5% in May, below the 9% registered the same month last year, government statistics agency DANE said on Tuesday, based on surveys in the country's 13 biggest cities.
The national unemployment rate also stood at 8%, also below the 9% reported for May 2025, DANE said.
The urban rate is more closely watched by financial markets than the national figure. Nearly 70% of the workforce is in large cities.
Unemployment figures are not seasonally adjusted and can be volatile, usually depending on factors such as peak shopping periods and vacation months.
