La Ceiba Foods Latin Market recalled certain requesón cheese products, including items with the La Colonia and Selectos Latinos brands, in connection with a Clover Hill Dairy recall.
The recalled products were distributed to retailers and restaurants in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
The Food and Drug Administration said a second environmental sample from Clover Hill Dairy tested positive for listeria and matched the outbreak strain. Previously, six cheese samples tested positive and matched the outbreak strain.
As of June 24, the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 12 listeria cases were reported in an outbreak, with 10 hospitalizations and one death.
