Surging fuel costs have underpinned a rise in electric vehicle sales in Australia. EV sales hit 35.8% of total new passenger car sales in June, with the Tesla Model Y the most popular car in the country, according to the Electric Vehicle Council, an industry body. Battery electric vehicles accounted for one in every four car sales in the month. Tesla Model Y's June sales hit a record 8,072 units, outpacing the Ford Ranger and the Toyota HiLux, it says.
