Schneider Electric's proposed $3.1 billion acquisition of industrial AI-enabled software provider Cognite fits within the French engineering group's strategy, but the price of the deal raises questions, Bernstein analysts say in a research note. "Investors will heavily scrutinize the price paid, with the market already having reservations on the extent of value-creation from Schneider's past software deals," the analysts say. How attractive the deal is will mainly depend on Schneider's expectations to boost revenue, they add. Adding Cognite seems a natural strategic step for Schneider that should expand the size of its potential market, according to Bernstein. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
