The loonie FX_IDC:USDCAD was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.4182 to the greenback, or 70.51 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.417 to 1.4209.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields (CA10YT=RR) rose 0.4 basis points to 3.386%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.3764%.
U.S. August crude NYMEX:CL1! futures fell $2.69 to settle at $69.23 a barrel on Friday.
