Hungary's Paks nuclear power plant cut output on one of its four reactors by 243 MW due to high water temperature on the Danube River during a record heatwave, its operator MVM said on Saturday.
A measurement taken in the morning showed the cooling water temperature downstream from the plant at 29.7 degrees Celsius, exceeding a 29.5 C intervention threshold, MVM said on its website.

* Laws require regular checks of downstream cooling water when temperature of Danube River exceeds 25 C.
* Power plant experts to carry out another round of temperature checks starting at 0900 GMT on Sunday.

* Energy Minister Istvan Kapitany says households will not experience any change from reduced output at the plant.
* Kapitany has previously called for households to curb electricity consumption between 1600 and 1900 GMT to ease load on power grid.
