Benchmark Dutch and British wholesale gas prices edged up on Wednesday morning as Iran said it would not meet with U.S. envoys for peace talks, clouding the prospects for an agreement to end the war.

The benchmark Dutch front-month contract at the TTF hub (TFMBMc1) inched up by €0.73 to €44.17 per megawatt hour (MWh) by 0722 GMT, ICE data showed.

The British front-month contract (NGLNMc1) was up 1.71 pence at 106.16 pence per therm.

Iran said on Tuesday it would not meet with top U.S. envoys who flew to the region following an outbreak of hostilities, clouding the prospects for a lasting peace between the two countries.

U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Doha for what the White House described as "high level" talks, but Iran and host Qatar said they would meet with mediators, rather than the Iranians themselves.

On the supply side, total Norwegian export nominations inched up and liquefied natural gas send-out was flat, LSEG data showed.

Average temperatures are expected to rise again by July 3 and then again from July 8. Gas-for-power demand is expected to decline as German wind power picks up and on more solar production. Wind generation is expected to remain elevated until July 8, LSEG data showed.

In the European carbon market, the benchmark contract ICEENDEX:ECF1! was down €0.44 at €79.72 a metric ton.
