White sugar futures rose to a 9-1/2 month high on Monday as weather-related concerns added to worries about crops in Europe and Asia, while cocoa fell sharply.

SUGAR

* White sugar ICEUS:SF1! gained 2.65% to $476.30 a metric ton by 1400 GMT after climbing to a 9-1/2 month peak of $481.90.

* Dealers said a heatwave in the European Union was raising concerns about crops in the major white sugar producer.

* El Nino weather conditions may also curb sugar production in some Asian countries including India and Thailand.

* Raw sugar ICEUS:SB1! rose 1.7% to 14.22 cents per lb after hitting a three-week high of 14.32 cents earlier in the session.

* Dealers said the expiry of the July raws contract (SBN6) on Tuesday should provide a short-term focus.

* Open interest has been falling steadily, but the delivery is still expected to be well above the July 2025 contract, when only around 45,000 tons were tendered.

COCOA

* London cocoa ICEEUR:C2! fell 3.7% to £3,680 a ton after setting a five-month high of £4,014 last week.

* The market remains underpinned by concerns that production in West Africa could fall in the upcoming 2026/27 season, partly due to El Nino conditions.

* Production this season, however, remains strong.

* Cocoa arrivals at ports in top grower Ivory Coast since the start of the season on October 1 had reached 1.910 million metric tons by June 28, up 18.4% from the same period last season, exporters estimated on Monday.

* New York cocoa ICEUS:CC1! lost 4.1% to $4,885 a ton.

COFFEE

* Arabica coffee ICEUS:KC1! rose 0.4% to $2.7425 per lb.

* Dealers said recent rains in Brazil have slowed harvest progress and raised some quality concerns although a bumper crop is still anticipated.

* Robusta coffee ICEEUR:RC2! lost 1.8% to $3,561 a ton.
