Brazil's Finance Minister Dario Durigan said on Thursday that the International Monetary Fund is expected to raise its forecast for Brazil's economic growth in 2026, as well as its estimate of the country's potential growth rate.
"(IMF) called me early today," Durigan said at an event hosted by development bank BNDES in Rio de Janeiro. "They will revise Brazil's growth forecast for 2026 once again, but also revise the country's growth potential upward."
The IMF is expected to release its macroeconomic updates for Brazil next week, as part of the mid-year World Economic Outlook Update.
In April, the IMF raised its 2026 GDP forecast for the country to 1.9% from 1.6%, but lowered its 2027 growth forecast to 2.0% from 2.3%.
