Indonesia exported 143.56 million metric tons of coal in the January-May period, down 8.19% from the same period a year earlier, statistics bureau data showed on Wednesday.

The shipments were worth $9.75 billion, 4.95% lower than a year ago.

The bureau's figures are based on reports from the customs office. The data may differ from those provided by the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, which are based on reports from mining companies.
