Japan's Economy Minister, Minoru Kiuchi, said on Tuesday he hopes the central bank guides monetary policy in a way that helps the government achieve a stronger economy.

"Specific monetary policy decisions fall under the jurisdiction of the BOJ," Kiuchi told a news conference.

But the BOJ law also has a clause requiring the BOJ to align its policy with that of the government's, Kiuchi said, adding that he hopes the BOJ guides policy appropriately taking into account the government's focus on achieving a strong economy.
