Japan's top currency diplomat on Tuesday said he has been closely communicating with Seoul's foreign exchange authorities as the financial markets of Japan and South Korea sometimes exhibit similar movements.

"I have recently been in particularly close contact with my Korean counterpart on market developments, including foreign exchange markets, and I will of course continue to do so," Atsushi Mimura, Japan's vice finance ‌minister ⁠for international affairs, said at an event celebrating the Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) branch opening in Tokyo, according to South Korea's finance ministry.
