Samsung Electronics (SSNLF) unveiled its eighth-generation Galaxy Z foldable lineup, introducing three new devices built around larger screens, thinner designs and deeper artificial intelligence integration.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 are powered by Google's NASDAQ:GOOG Gemini AI service. The Fold8 Ultra features an 8-inch main display, weighs 215 grams and measures just 4.1 millimeters thick when unfolded, making it Samsung's thinnest Galaxy Z Fold yet.
Samsung is one of the world's largest smartphone, memory-chip and consumer-electronics manufacturers. Its foldable phones have helped create a premium mobile category that rivals are now increasingly targeting.
The Fold8 uses a 4,800 mAh battery and weighs 201 grams, while the Flip8 weighs 180 grams and offers an upgraded FlexWindow for weather, schedules and notifications without opening the phone. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the Ultra model.
