Apple NASDAQ:AAPL, a global technology company known for its consumer devices and services, has slightly increased prices for new individual AppleCare+ subscriptions as the company continues to raise prices across parts of its product and services portfolio. Monthly AppleCare+ coverage for Macs and iPads increased by 50 cents, while annual plans rose by $5. The changes apply only to new subscriptions, allowing customers with existing plans to continue paying their current rates.
Under the revised pricing, AppleCare+ for a new 13-inch MacBook Air increased to $7.99 per month from $7.49, while annual coverage rose to $79.99 from $74.99. AppleCare+ provides customer support and repair protection when devices are damaged. Apple also introduced AppleCare One last year, a separate $19.99 service that allows customers to protect as many as three devices.
The latest adjustment follows Apple's decision last month to raise prices for iPads, Macs, Vision Pro headsets, HomePod speakers and TV set-top boxes amid a global memory shortage and other challenges. The company is also expected to increase prices for its iPhone lineup when new models arrive in September. Investors may view that potential move as particularly important because the iPhone remains Apple's largest revenue generator, while broader price increases could help the company respond to rising pressures across its hardware business.
