Cathie Wood's ARK Invest added roughly $28.7 million of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing NYSE:TSM and SpaceX NASDAQ:SPCX shares while trimming Amazon NASDAQ:AMZN, Alphabet NASDAQ:GOOGL and Shopify NASDAQ:SHOP, signalling a sharper rotation toward semiconductor production and space infrastructure as major technology catalysts approach.

ARK runs actively managed exchange-traded funds focused on disruptive technologies. Its daily disclosures can offer clues about where Wood sees improving long-term risk-reward, although trades may also reflect portfolio-weight limits and routine rebalancing.

ARK purchased 37,916 TSMC shares worth about $14.2 million across several funds. The buy reinforces exposure to the world's largest contract chipmaker, which manufactures advanced processors for Nvidia, AMD and other AI leaders. TSMC recently reported second-quarter revenue of $40.2 billion, a 67.7% gross margin and raised its 2026 revenue-growth outlook to above 40%, strengthening the fundamental case behind Wood's purchase.

Wood also added 128,932 SpaceX shares valued at roughly $14.5 million after the stock's post-IPO decline. SpaceX reports its first public quarterly results after the Aug. 4 close, while up to 911.5 million employee and early-investor shares could become eligible for sale shortly afterward, creating a potentially volatile test for ARK's conviction.

ARK funded part of the purchases by selling roughly $1.1 million each of Amazon and Alphabet and about $5 million of Shopify. Amazon's reduction came hours before its July 30 earnings report, where investors are focused on AWS growth, AI spending and free cash flow.

Investor Takeaway On Cathie Wood Stock

The trades concentrate ARK's near-term event risk. TSMC offers proven AI revenue and manufacturing leverage, while SpaceX carries greater upside uncertainty alongside earnings and lockup pressure.

Investors should watch whether SpaceX provides credible profitability and capital-spending targets, and whether TSMC's advanced-node demand remains supply constrained. The Amazon and Alphabet sales should not automatically be read as bearish calls; modest trims may simply finance higher-conviction purchases.

A strong SpaceX report and durable TSMC guidance would validate the rotation. Post-lockup selling or slower AI-chip demand could quickly expose the risk of adding aggressively during volatile pullbacks.
