Firefly Aerospace received a $144 million contract for a lunar mission with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Under the contract, Firefly would design, build, test and deliver the mission in about two years, with a targeted launch in 2028, the company said Tuesday.
The contract involves Firefly's Blue Ghost lunar lander, and marks the company's sixth contracted lunar mission to date, it said.
"This latest mission award will help prove that commercial lunar delivery can be rapid, repeatable, and reliable--exactly what's needed to enable a permanent lunar presence and support NASA's Moon Base initiative and Artemis program," Firefly's Chief Executive Jason Kim said.
