Palantir Technologies NASDAQ:PLTR Chief Executive Alex Karp said artificial intelligence may improve living standards for many people but could also concentrate financial gains among a relatively small group of beneficiaries.
Karp said the growing imbalance in wealth creation linked to AI represents a major economic concern. He suggested that individuals and companies developing the technology could see their fortunes expand at a much faster pace than gains experienced by the broader population.
The Palantir CEO also said public concerns about AI extend beyond potential job displacement. Karp noted that warnings from some leaders in the AI industry about workforce disruption may have contributed to uncertainty surrounding the technology's long-term impact on workers.
Karp's remarks come as debate over artificial intelligence continues to intensify among policymakers, businesses and consumers. While he said AI could deliver meaningful benefits across the economy, he questioned narratives suggesting that the technology will generate equal gains for everyone.
Palantir shares have benefited from investor enthusiasm surrounding AI-driven software and data analytics, as the company continues to expand its presence in commercial and government markets.
