Tenaya Therapeutics has named Eric Hyllengren as its next finance chief, effective July 13.
In the role, Hyllengren will oversee the biotechnology company's financial strategy, capital allocation, investor relations and corporate development.
Hyllengren has more than two decades of experience in biotechnology finance, capital markets and corporate strategy, Tenaya said Monday. He most recently served as CFO of Zura Bio, and prior to that, oversaw finance and operations at Atara Biotherapeutics.
Previously, he held roles of increasing responsibility across finance, investor relations and business development over the course of 15 years at Amgen, according to Tenaya.
"I am thrilled to join Tenaya at such a vital time in its evolution," Hyllengren said. "With two programs demonstrating promising safety and efficacy clinical data, a third candidate with broad potential utility poised to advance, and deep cardiovascular target discovery expertise, Tenaya is well positioned to capitalize on the opportunity to transform the treatment of heart conditions."
Tenaya additionally on Monday said Hiro Higa, senior vice president of finance, will retire during the third quarter.
The company noted that Higa's retirement is unrelated to Hyllengren's hire. It added that Higa will remain with Tenaya as a consultant, helping facilitate a smooth transition of the finance and accounting functions.
