Walmart (WMT, Financials), the world's largest retailer, named Kyle Kinnard as chief operating officer of its U.S. business, replacing Kieran Shanahan.

Kinnard currently serves as COO of Walmart International. He has held several senior roles during more than 25 years with the company, including executive vice president of health and wellness for Walmart U.S.

The change follows a wider leadership overhaul under CEO John Furner.

Tom Ward, COO of Sam's Club, and Cedric Clark, head of U.S. store operations, left in May.

Walmart also named David Guggina and Chris Nicholas to lead its domestic and international businesses, respectively.

Juan Galarraga was promoted to oversee Walmart's Latin American operations.

The reshuffle comes as Walmart leans further into technology, e-commerce and delivery.

The company is also trying to attract more higher-income shoppers while expanding its online marketplace.

Walmart cut about 1,000 corporate roles in May.

It has kept a cautious outlook for annual sales and profit as consumer spending remains uneven.

Investors will watch whether the new leadership team can sustain growth while controlling costs and protecting margins.
