Global commodities company ETG will install a fertilizer facility at VLI's logistics complex in Palmeirante, Tocantins state, marking the company's entry into Brazil, VLI said on Thursday.
• ETG, present in over 45 countries, will invest about 26 million reais ($4.3 million) in the facility connected to the North-South Railway.
• The plant will have capacity to produce up to 200,000 tonnes of fertilizer annually and storage for 45,000 tonnes.
• Construction is set to begin in August, with operations expected to start in February 2027.
• The facility will serve producers in Tocantins and neighboring agricultural frontier states including Maranhao, Piaui and Bahia.
• It will receive imported fertilizers through Itaqui port in Maranhao, using VLI's logistics corridor inaugurated in 2022.
• Most fertilizer consumed in Brazil is imported.
