Nike is scheduled to report its fiscal fourth-quarter results on Tuesday after market close. Here is what you need to know.

NET INCOME: The athletic apparel and footwear brand is expected to post earnings of 12 cents a share, compared with 14 cents a share the year before, according to FactSet.

REVENUE: The company is seen reporting $10.85 billion in sales, compared with $11.1 billion in the year-ago quarter, according to FactSet.

The stock has slid 20% in the past three months and recently traded around $41.29.

WHAT TO WATCH:

  • Nike's turnaround has hit some snags lately. In March, the company projected sales declines ahead, noting that some areas are taking longer to recover despite signs of progress in its running, wholesale and North American businesses. The company pointed to particular challenges in China and with its Converse brand and sportswear offerings. With those trends in mind, analysts will be watching to see how the company's strategy is progressing, and looking for updated commentary on the turnaround timeline.
  • All eyes will be on Nike's guidance for the year ahead, especially after the company named a new chief financial officer last week. David Denton, currently CFO at Pfizer, is set to take on the top finance role at Nike on Aug. 17, succeeding Matthew Friend. Nike will likely be conservative with its guidance to allow Denton to set long-term targets at its Investor Day, Jefferies analysts said.
  • Wall Street will also be paying attention to Nike's commentary around the success of its World Cup strategy. KeyBanc Capital Markets analysts said that while they had seen the event as a potential catalyst, they're tempering their expectations given Nike and many of its competitors have opted to supply players with pink shoes for the tournament. The analysts believe the industry-wide, all-pink launches "blurs the brand distinction NKE was looking for, with upside in boot sales from the event looking more limited," they said.
