State-owned NMDC Ltd. on Wednesday reported a 44.3% year-on-year increase in iron ore production to 5.15 million tonnes (MT) in June, while sales rose 11.2% to 3.98 MT.
On a sequential basis, however, production declined 3% from 5.31 MT in May, while sales slipped 1.5% from 4.04 MT.
Chhattisgarh drives production
Chhattisgarh remained NMDC's largest production hub during the month, with iron ore output rising to 3.58 MT from 2.28 MT a year earlier. Sales from the state also increased to 2.79 MT, compared with 2.34 MT in June last year.
In Karnataka, production rose to 1.57 MT from 1.29 MT a year ago. However, sales from the state edged lower to 1.19 MT, compared with 1.24 MT in the corresponding month last year.
The production update follows a strong March quarter performance. NMDC reported a 36% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹2,017.6 crore for the quarter ended March 2026, while revenue from operations surged 61.9% to ₹11,343.1 crore from ₹7,004.6 crore a year earlier. The growth was driven by higher contributions from its iron ore and steel-related businesses.
Shares of NMDC Ltd. ended 1.13% lower at ₹84.20 on the NSE on Wednesday.
