New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) on Wednesday issued a press release suggesting power conservation by raising air-conditioning thermostats and postponing unnecessary use of major appliances until demand on the electric system eases.

The release came ahead of anticipated high temperatures and forecasted demand on Thursday in the region.
