Blackstone (BX, Financials), a global alternative asset manager, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in South Korea's Futronic.

The transaction values the robotics supplier at about 1 trillion won, or roughly $676 million. Futronic develops actuator and motion-control technology used in robotics and industrial systems.

The deal gives Blackstone a larger position in automation, where demand is rising across manufacturing, logistics and other industries.

For Futronic, the investment could support expansion, product development and new customer growth. Blackstone has been building its exposure to businesses tied to automation and advanced manufacturing.

The firm did not disclose the exact size of the stake or the financial terms beyond the reported valuation. The transaction still depends on customary closing conditions.

Investors will watch whether Blackstone uses Futronic as a platform for further growth in robotics and industrial technology across Asia.
