Six Flags said it appointed Mark Pauls as chief operating officer, effective July 15.
Pauls would succeed Tim Fisher, who is expected to serve as special advisor to the amusement-park and resort company through Dec. 15.
The company said Pauls has more than five decades of experience in the entertainment industry. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of operations at Herschend Family Entertainment. He also has held senior leadership roles at SeaWorld Parks and Busch Gardens.
