Magnachip appointed Chae Lee as chief executive officer, effective July 1.
Lee, who is also expected to join the South Korean semiconductor manufacturer's board, has more than 30 years of global semiconductor experience. Most recently, he served as CEO of Tagore Technology and has held senior leadership positions at semiconductor companies including Insyte Systems, NXP Semiconductors and Maxim Integrated Products.
He succeeds interim CEO Camillo Martino, who will continue to serve as chairman of the board.
Martino became interim CEO in August 2025 after YJ Kim agreed to step down from the company. At the time, Martino cited significant strategic, operational and financial challenges as it transitions to a pure play power semiconductor company, which required new leadership.
Martino also said that he would launch a review into the company's capital allocation and strategic alternatives that included the potential sale of the company.
Lee said the company was well-positioned to capitalize across artificial intelligence, data centers and robotics.
