Uber Technologies NYSE:UBER has removed two senior tech leaders from its emerging AI data-labeling business, adding another leadership shakeup to a unit the company has been building as a possible growth driver. Naga Kasu, senior director of engineering, and Pankaj Kamat, director of product at Uber AI Solutions, recently left the company, according to a person familiar with the matter, with Uber confirming the departures.

The company described the moves as part of a broader leadership transition, while saying the division is seeing strong momentum. Launched in 2024, Uber AI Solutions uses gig workers and knowledge workers to support AI data preparation, including coding-output validation, audio recording across languages and scenarios, video labeling for driverless technology, language translation, map validation and restaurant-menu digitization.

The shakeup comes as Uber works to carve out a position in a data-labeling market already led by Meta-backed Scale AI and Mercor.io. Uber's customers have included Alphabet, Aurora Innovation and Niantic, while the company has also pursued Salesforce. Uber also acquired Belgian startup Segments.ai last October to strengthen annotation services for autonomous-vehicle technology, as several other executives have recently exited the company.
