As economists eye AI's impact on the future of finding work, Nicole Bachaud, Labor Economist at ZipRecruiter said she has seen an uptick in software engineer postings and anticipates the business and professional services sector will continue to see growth because of the technology. "I anticipate that this area will continue to grow because of the influence of AI in the workplace," she says, citing factors like firms increasingly deploying AI tools and resources. June's jobs report showed 36,000 jobs added in the professional and business services sector, a category concentrated in white-collar jobs that saw losses in 2025. Analysts from BofA also wrote that previous declines seen last year in the white-collar sector were part of post-pandemic normalization, rather than AI impact. (jessica.coacci@wsj.com)
