Portuguese consumer prices rose 3.2% year-on-year in June, down from 3.3% in the previous month, preliminary data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Tuesday.

Core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices and is seen as a better gauge of the underlying trend, came in at 2.5% year-on-year, up from 2.2% in May.

On a monthly basis, the INE said that overall consumer prices rose 0.1% this month after a 0.2% increase in May.
