Gulf stocks end mostly lower on the last trading day of the second quarter. The Dubai Financial Market General Index falls 0.6%, Abu Dhabi's benchmark index drops 0.4% and Qatar's QE Index slips 0.1%, while Saudi Arabia's Tadawul All Share Index edges up 0.1%. Overall, the second quarter's performance was mixed, with Saudi stocks pressured by large-cap petrochemical and cement names, as well as banks, capital goods and energy, says Junaid Ansari, head of investment strategy and research at Kamco Invest. Saudi Arabia's decline reflected acute regional geopolitical uncertainty tied to the U.S.-Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz disruption, along with pressure from global central-bank tightening, he says. In the U.A.E., gains were broader-based across sectors, though partly offset by declines in materials stocks, Ansari says. (farhan.rafid@wsj.com)
