Russia’s gross domestic product grew by 0.3% year-on-year in May after 1.3% growth in the previous month, the economy ministry's preliminary data showed on Wednesday.

In the first five months of the year, the Russian economy grew by 0.2%.

In May the economy ministry sharply downgraded its macroeconomic forecasts for 2026–2029 after more than four years of war in Ukraine. The GDP growth estimate for 2026 was slashed from 1.3% to 0.4%.
