SoftBank Group has invested an additional $10 billion in OpenAI Group as part of its previously announced $30 billion investment plan.

The Japanese technology investment company said Wednesday that it borrowed $10 billion under a bridge facility agreement to fund the second tranche of the investment through its Vision Fund 2.

SoftBank Group said it plans to complete the final $10 billion tranche on Oct. 1. It invested the first tranche of $10 billion in the ChatGPT maker in April.

News Corp, owner of The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires, has a content-licensing partnership with OpenAI.
