South Africa recorded foreign direct investment inflows of 20.3 billion rand ($1.23 billion) in the first quarter of 2026, down from 41.3 billion rand in the previous quarter, the central bank said on Tuesday.
Portfolio investment inflows increased to 9.0 billion rand in January-March, from inflows of 2.8 billion rand in October-December, the South African Reserve Bank said in its Quarterly Bulletin.
Non-residents bought 14.1 billion rand of equities in the first three months of this year, while they sold 5.1 billion rand of debt securities.
