Saudi stocks extends recent losses, leading major Gulf markets lower. The Saudi market's weakness reflects tighter liquidity, says Abdulrahman Alnafia, market research analyst at Saudi-based Alinma Capital. There is a shift toward fixed-income products, with high interest rates reducing borrowing and drawing capital away from equities, Alnafia notes. Recent regional incidents, including the Saudi Aramco helicopter crash and Iranian missile and drone strikes against U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, don't appear to be the main driver, as the Saudi market had already been trending lower before those events, he says. Saudi Arabia's Tadawul All Share Index falls 1.1%, while Abu Dhabi's benchmark index, the Dubai Financial Market General Index and Qatar's QE Index each lose 0.4%. (farhan.rafid@wsj.com)
