Tanzania's central bank raised its key interest rate by 50 basis points to 6.25% (TZINTR=ECI) on Friday after inflation accelerated to its highest in three years.
In May consumer inflation reached 4.2% in annual terms (TZCPIY=ECI), up from 4.0% in the previous month.
It is still within the 3%-5% target range but is now at its highest since April 2023.
