Global deliveries totalled 834,279 in May, down 7.2% year-on-year, following a 3.1% decline in April, taking the 2026 cumulative total to 4.14m, down 3.5% over the first five months of 2025.
Sales within Japan increased by 11.1% to 118,381 vehicles, with growth slowing from 24.2% in April, but international sales dropped 9.6% to 715,898 after a prior 7.5% decline.
Two of the company's largest markets, North America and Europe, reported flat sales compared with last year, at 280,539 and 99,597, respectively.
However, China saw a 31.7% year-on-year drop in sales to 102,299, which the company blamed on a "challenging market environment, including rising gasoline prices".
Large falls were also seen in Oceania, down 26% to 21,061, and the Middle East, down 38.6% to 29,568.
